In Memorium Mariannein

November 09, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Marianne Maria Adriana Gerardina Bron on October 14th, 2020 at the age of 67. Marianne passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family and friends, following a nearly, two-year battle with Cancer.

Marianne was born in St. Hubert, N.B. Netherlands on May 4th 1953. She is survived by her son Rick, stepsons Ed (Kathleen) and Vince (Genny), along with her step grandchildren, Shantelle, Mitchell, Jerrit and Kyle, her sisters Petra and Mies and brothers, Sjef and Theo,  and many nieces and nephews and their children. She is pre-deceased by her parents, Alfons and Adriana Gerrits and siblings, Riek, Bart, Ton, Gerrit, Gerri, Mien and Chris.

After high school, Marianne completed her nursing education at Kalorama Healthcare Facility, Beek, Nijmegen.  Marianne moved from the Netherlands, to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in 1975. Marianne was passionate about Greenview Nurseries Ltd., and the horticultural industry which she served for most of her life.  At the age of 60, she returned to school at St. Mary’s University in Calgary and earned her certificate as a teacher’s assistant for English as a Second Language.

Marianne was a very devoted mother, great friend and valued colleague to many people. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, at Elements Calgary Mental Health Centre and enjoyed walks by the Elbow River. She also really enjoyed puzzling, word searches and colouring.

A celebration of life is being planned for the summer 2021 in Calgary. Live video stream will be available for those who cannot attend.

We ask that in lieu of sending flowers, consideration is given to making donations to organizations which were instrumental in her well-being and close to Marianne’s heart.
